A framework to support knowledge sharing and construction in virtual learning communities

چکیده
This research aims at the development of a computational framework to support knowledge construction and sharing in Virtual Learning Communities. The distinctive characteristic of the framework is that the support will be tailored to the community as a whole, rather than adapting to particular individuals. A key component in the framework is a community knowledge model, which will be derived from monitoring the knowledge sharing process and will be used to support the building of transactive memory and shared mental models, as well as to identify cognitively central and peripheral members. These issues are important in Virtual Learning Communities (both in educational and organisational context), as they promote the processes of knowledge/information sharing, collaborative learning, and development of collective efficacy among community members.

متن کاملTowards a Holistic Personalised Support for Knowledge Sharing in Virtual Learning Communities
Virtual learning communities bring together people from diverse backgrounds and provide the basis for knowledge construction and sharing. Important processes for the community to function as a whole have been identified and examined through existing systems. Although existing systems attempt to support these processes, the absence of a complete community model, and the personalisation and adapt...

Alliance raises many knowledge transfer and interfirm learning issues that have implications for how the alliance partners manage their cooperative learning activities in the alliance system. Many of these implications are grounded in the assumption that partners in the alliances have routines for transferring knowledge, learning, gaining management efficiencies. Thus organisations can support ...
متن کاملTrust as an Aspect of Organisational Culture: Its Effects on Knowledge Sharing in Virtual Communities
Knowledge sharing is of much interest to both practitioners and researchers because of its potential to quicken learning, enhance innovation, reduce costs, and place organisations on a competitive edge. A principal tool for knowledge sharing has been identified by researchers to be virtual communities in which research collaboration and other knowledge sharing activities easily take place. Some...
متن کاملEnhancing the Quality of e-Learning in Virtual Learning Communities by Finding Quality Learning Content and Trustworthy Collaborators
Virtual learning communities encourage members to learn and contribute knowledge. However, knowledge sharing requires mutual-trust collaboration between learners and the contribution of quality knowledge. This task cannot be accomplished by simply storing learning content in repositories. It requires a mechanism to help learners find relevant learning content as well as knowledgeable collaborat...
